INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A teenager from Indianapolis has been arrested and faces murder charges in connection with his father’s disappearance and presumed death. Seventeen-year-old David Perry was apprehended this past Saturday, facing allegations of fatally harming his father, 35-year-old Brandon Perry, and disposing of the body in a river.
The investigation, which began as a missing person case after Brandon Perry’s sister reported him missing on May 29, turned into a homicide inquiry based on evidence gathered by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). The IMPD disclosed that video surveillance, extensive interviews, and physical evidence led homicide detectives to believe that the son was responsible for his father’s death.
The search for Brandon Perry’s body is ongoing, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies. Court documents highlight how David Perry became the focal suspect through a convergence of digital and physical findings. The crucial pieces of evidence included surveillance footage, DNA evidence, and witness testimonies, coupled with cellphone location records.
The case took a grim turn with the discovery of text messages from David Perry on the day of his father’s last sighting, which implied involvement in his father’s demise. An unnamed recipient of David’s messages shared with investigators the conversation they had, in which David expressed a need to meet in person and avoid discussing the matter over texts.
As the inquiry unfolded, Brandon Perry’s sister reported discovering a substance believed to be a large quantity of blood on his mattress. Furthermore, she recounted a conversation with David Perry, where he chillingly described disposing of his father’s body inside a trash can in the White River, approximately an hour from their residence.
Adding to the incriminating trail was surveillance footage that captured David Perry purchasing cleaning supplies just a day after his father was last spotted. Later that same day, cellular data positioned David Perry near the location where his father’s vehicle was later found abandoned, bolstering the authorities’ case against him.
