22-year-old Florida woman brutally beaten by boyfriend who throws her into freeway traffic and kills her

MIAMI, FL – A Miami man has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly dragging his girlfriend into oncoming traffic on Interstate 95, leading to her death. Lorent Pion, 29, is accused of killing Nahomi Cittadini, 22, by brutally assaulting her and forcing her onto the highway near the Ives Dairy Road entrance in early December, according to police reports.

Surveillance footage captured by Florida Department of Transportation cameras reportedly shows the harrowing sequence of events as Pion allegedly pulled Cittadini from his SUV and attacked her on the roadside. He is seen dragging her toward the traffic lanes while she attempts to crawl back to safety.

Tragically, the footage depicts Cittadini being struck by a car after being pulled into the roadway. Witnesses alerted authorities, who responded to the scene, leading to Pion’s arrest. He had initially fled the scene but was apprehended after a short pursuit.

Cittadini’s family expressed that she had been trying to distance herself from Pion, and her mother described the persistent presence of Pion in her daughter’s life. Despite moving states, Cittadini reportedly could not escape Pion’s reach.

Despite his arrest for fleeing on the night of the incident, Pion was not initially charged with murder. However, as evidence was reviewed, including testimony from a witness who saw Pion with bloodstains, charges escalated. The witness reported Pion arriving at their home shortly after the tragic event, his clothes covered in blood.

This was not the first incident involving Pion and Cittadini. Months earlier, Pion had been arrested for a similar attack, also captured on video. In that instance, he was charged with battery and ordered to stay away from Cittadini.

In a letter written in December, Pion maintained his innocence, labeling Cittadini’s death as an accident caused by a fleeing vehicle. These assertions have been met with skepticism in light of the surveillance footage and previous charges.

Pion remains detained at the Broward County Main Jail without bond, awaiting further court proceedings. The case underscores ongoing concerns about domestic violence and the challenges victims face in escaping dangerous situations.
