Anthony Richardson Shines at NFL Combine, but Panthers Not Convinced
Anthony Richardson, the quarterback for the Florida Gators, wowed scouts and analysts at the NFL Combine, showing off his impressive athleticism and arm strength. He tied for second among betting favorites to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, the Carolina Panthers were not as impressed, according to a report from Panthers Wire.
The Panthers reportedly do not see Richardson as a top-tier quarterback prospect, and do not have him high on their draft board. This comes as a surprise to many, as Richardson was one of the standout performers at the Combine, along with Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Despite the Panthers’ reservations, many other NFL teams are likely to be interested in taking a chance on Richardson come draft day. He has the potential to be a dual-threat quarterback in the mold of Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murray, and his Combine performance only emphasized his upside.
Of course, there is still a long way to go before the 2023 NFL Draft, and a lot can change between now and then. But for now, it seems that Anthony Richardson has solidified himself as one of the most intriguing quarterback prospects in the country.
