LUCKNOW, India: In a shocking and brutal incident, a 19-year-old girl was murdered in broad daylight in Dherha village of Kaushambi district on Monday. The victim, who was returning home after grazing her cattle, was confronted by two brothers, Ashok Paswan and Pawan Paswan, who are facing separate criminal charges.
The altercation quickly turned violent, with the Paswan brothers hacking the girl to death with an axe in front of horrified onlookers. This heinous crime has sparked outrage and fear among the villagers, prompting them to immediately alert the authorities. Senior police officers, including Additional DG Prayagraj Zone Bhanu Bhaskar and IG Prayagraj Chandra Prakash, rushed to the scene to oversee the investigation and maintain law and order.
Further investigation revealed that the girl had filed a rape case against Pawan Paswan three years ago. The Paswan brothers had been pressuring the girl’s family to withdraw the case and settle the matter out of court. They had even threatened to kill her if she did not comply. In response, multiple police teams have been deployed to apprehend the Paswan brothers.
This tragic incident highlights the prevalence of gender-based violence and the challenges faced by victims in seeking justice. It also underscores the urgent need for stronger measures to ensure the safety and protection of women in communities. As the investigation continues, local authorities are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent similar acts of violence in the future.
In light of this appalling crime, it is essential for communities to come together, raise awareness, and advocate for the rights of women and girls. The victim and her family deserve justice, and it is the responsibility of law enforcement and society as a whole to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
