Chuck Todd Leaving ‘Meet the Press’ Brings Changes: Kristen Welker to Become Host

NBC’s long-standing ‘Meet the Press’ moderator Chuck Todd will be stepping down from his role, according to recent reports. The announcement was confirmed by NBC News on Thursday, bringing an end to Todd’s seven-year tenure on the show. However, NBC has already named Todd’s successor- Kristen Welker. Welker, who is currently a White House correspondent, has regularly contributed to ‘Meet the Press’ on Sundays. Todd has expressed his happiness for Welker and said he has no doubt that she will be a great host for the show. Todd will now turn his attention to anchoring ‘Meet the Press’ daily streaming program, where he will be joined by other political reporters. The program was launched in 2020 and serves as an extension of the long-running show. Todd wrote on Twitter that he is incredibly excited to continue working with his colleagues and that he feels blessed to have the opportunity to do so. Although Todd’s departure from the show marks the end of an era, Welker’s appointment represents a new beginning and a fresh start for ‘Meet the Press.’
