The Portland Trail Blazers faced off against the Golden State Warriors in a tightly contested matchup on Saturday night. The game was decided by a single point, with the Trail Blazers coming out on top.
However, the victory was bittersweet, as the Trail Blazers were without the services of star guard Damian Lillard, who was sidelined with an injury.
Fortunately, the Trail Blazers had enough depth to make up for Lillard’s absence. Center Jusuf Nurkic put up a double-double, and guards CJ McCollum and Gary Trent Jr. combined for 42 points.
The Warriors, meanwhile, were without the services of star guard Stephen Curry, who was also sidelined with an injury.
In Curry’s absence, forward Draymond Green stepped up and put up a triple-double with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Trail Blazers’ balanced attack.
Meanwhile, Lillard had a stellar night in a losing effort against the Houston Rockets. The star guard scored a career-high 71 points, including 13 three-pointers, in a losing effort. He also wore a special edition of the adidas Dame 8 “Sakura” shoes in the game.
Boban Marjanovic also had a strong performance for the Rockets, scoring a season-high 16 points.
The Trail Blazers and Warriors will face off again on Tuesday night, and both teams will be hoping to have their stars back in action.
