“Deadly” Chicago shooting kills 1 and injures 6 at memorial gathering

Chicago was hit with another round of gun violence over the weekend, leaving one person dead and six others wounded. The incidents occurred in two separate shootings, both on the West Side.

In the first incident, a man was fatally shot in the Austin neighborhood on Friday. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the victim was sitting in a parked car when he was approached by a group of people who opened fire on him. The man was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The second incident occurred on Saturday at a memorial gathering in honor of a man who was killed in a car accident four years ago. The gathering was being held on the West Side when a fight broke out, leading to a shooting that left one person dead and six others injured.

Both incidents are under investigation, and no suspects or arrests have been made yet. These latest shootings add to the rising gun violence in the city, which has already seen a significant increase in violent crime over the last year.

Community leaders and officials continue to call for an end to the gun violence, urging residents to come forward with any information that may help solve these crimes.
