Derek Carr Officially Free to Sign with a New Team After Raiders Release

After nine seasons with the Raiders, Derek Carr is officially a free agent. The Raiders officially released their veteran quarterback on Thursday, allowing him to pursue a new team.

The move comes after Carr told the Raiders to “pound sand” on their plans to trade him to the New Orleans Saints. Rich Eisen of the Rich Eisen Show reacted to the news, saying “It’s almost like Derek Carr said ‘I’m not a pawn in your chess game, I’m a king, and I’m not moving.'”

With Carr now gone, the question remains: who will the Raiders turn to at quarterback? The team is now in the market for a new QB, and speculation is swirling as to who they may pursue.

Carr, who had been with the Raiders since 2014, leaves behind a legacy of nine seasons and a career record of 70-77. He was a three-time Pro Bowler and one of the most beloved players in the Raiders organization.
