“Detroit Grandmother Steps Up to Raise 12 Grandchildren After Tragic Loss”

Detroit, MI – A grandmother in Detroit is now tasked with raising 12 children after her daughter tragically passed away during childbirth. The 39-year-old mother of 10-year-old triplets and two sets of twins was rushed to the hospital on Monday after going into labor. However, during the delivery, complications arose, and she died shortly after giving birth to her 12th child.

The grandmother, who has chosen to remain anonymous, is now taking care of the entire household on her own. “It’s a lot to take on, but my daughter would have wanted me to take care of her children,” she said in a tearful interview with CNN.

Friends and family members have rallied around the grandmother to provide support and assistance during this difficult time. Several organizations, including a local church, have also offered their help. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise money for the family’s immediate needs.

The tragedy has put a spotlight on the importance of maternal health care in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the maternal mortality rate in the U.S. is higher than in any other developed country. African American women are particularly at risk, with a mortality rate three times higher than that of white women.

The grandmother is determined to honor her daughter’s memory by providing a loving home for her grandchildren. “I’m going to do everything I can to be the mother figure they need,” she said. “They are my world now.”
