Disney+’s hit series The Mandalorian has returned for a third season and it’s off to a great start. Episode 1, titled ‘The Apostate’, sees Baby Yoda meeting a familiar face from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
In the episode, the titular Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda come across a character played by Bill Nighy, who is instantly recognizable to fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Nighy plays a character known as the ‘Apostate’, a former member of the Imperial Navy who is now a pirate.
The episode also features a brief cameo from Star Wars veteran Temuera Morrison, who reprises his role as Boba Fett from the original trilogy. It’s unclear what role he will play in the season going forward, but fans are certainly excited to see him return.
In addition to these exciting cameos, the premiere episode also introduces a new favorite Star Wars character. The character, known as the ‘Frog Lady’, is a mysterious figure who helps the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda on their quest.
The Mandalorian is a show that can be enjoyed by both Star Wars fans and newcomers alike. While knowledge of the franchise’s canon may help viewers appreciate the episode’s cameos and references, it’s not necessary to understand and enjoy the episode.
The Mandalorian is available to stream on Disney+.
