It’s National Donut Day and people across the country are lining up to get their hands on some free doughy treats. Some of the biggest chains, such as Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts, are offering free donuts to customers today. The Salvation Army is also getting involved, distributing 2,000 donuts at Santa Monica Promenade.

Despite the pandemic, the annual tradition of celebrating National Donut Day hasn’t been cancelled. Dunkin’ Donuts is giving away one free donut with the purchase of any beverage, while Krispy Kreme is offering a free donut to anyone who shows up at their stores. Other participating chains include Tim Hortons, Shipley’s Do-Nuts, and Duck Donuts.

While some customers are eager to indulge in the sugary treats, others are using National Donut Day as an opportunity to give back. The Salvation Army, for example, is handing out free donuts at Santa Monica Promenade as part of their efforts to help those in need.
