LAGRANGE, GA – In a disturbing incident that unfolded at a local motel, a Georgia woman is facing serious charges after allegedly pouring hot grease on her boyfriend, police reported.
The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Olympia Denise Laster, has been charged with aggravated battery based on allegations of family violence. The LaGrange Police Department released details indicating the violent confrontation took place shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Stay Lodge on Whitesville Street in LaGrange, a town approximately 65 miles southwest of Atlanta.
Authorities responded to the scene following reports of a domestic altercation. Investigators determined that the victim, a 46-year-old man, was attacked with hot chicken grease while seated in a chair near the motel’s kitchen area. He sustained severe burns to his head, neck, back, and shoulders.
The injured man has been taken to an Atlanta hospital that specializes in burn injuries for treatment. The press release did not specify a motive for the attack nor clarify whether the dispute was purely verbal or if it escalated physically.
Details surrounding the cause and specifics of the altercation remain limited as the LaGrange Police Department proceeds with its investigation. The case has been transferred to their criminal investigation division for further examination.
Currently, Laster remains in custody at the Troup County Jail, held without bond. Her legal proceedings have not yet appeared on the public court docket.
Court records reveal that Laster has a history of legal issues in Troup County. She previously faced charges of criminal trespass involving family violence, which resulted in a no-contest plea earlier this year. Additionally, she pleaded guilty to a DUI charge stemming from an arrest in late last year.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not provided further commentary on the incident or any underlying dynamics between Laster and the victim.
