CHICAGO, IL – A mother from Chicago has been charged with the attempted murder of her three young children after a harrowing incident that left them hospitalized with serious injuries. Residents in the neighborhood remain in shock as details of the unfolding events paint a distressing picture of the circumstances leading to the charges.
Aurionah-Rakii-Karie Parker-White, 23, faces multiple charges, including three counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery to a child. The allegations arose after a tow truck driver discovered Parker-White and her children on Wednesday outside their apartment, all covered in blood.
The driver, DeVaughen Stringfellow, stumbled upon the scene when he noticed Parker-White’s 1-year-old daughter wearing only a bloody diaper.
Stringfellow acted swiftly, transporting the family to a local hospital despite witnessing Parker-White’s visible distress and blood-soaked appearance. His decision to help, despite initial hesitation, was spurred by Parker-White’s frantic cries for help.
Police revealed that upon arrival at the hospital, the children, aged 1, 3, and 5, were found to have severe wounds to their wrists. Investigators reported a trail of blood extending from the family’s apartment to the street, underscoring the severity of the situation.
In an unsettling turn, Parker-White allegedly admitted to law enforcement at the scene that she had attacked her children. She reportedly cited the overwhelming stress of single-handedly raising her children as the reason for her actions, expressing acknowledgment of the wrongfulness of her deeds.
Within the hospital, conversations emerged that painted a poignant picture of the children’s ordeal. Parker-White’s 5-year-old son was said to have attempted to comfort his mother after the incident, urging her not to cry and reassuring her that everything would be alright. He also reportedly explained to hospital staff that his mother had intended for them to “go to heaven,” further complicating the distressing narrative.
Additionally, there were reports that Parker-White expressed a desire to end her own life, adding another layer of depth to her mental state during the incident.
Following a court appearance on Saturday, a judge ordered Parker-White to be held without bail at Cook County Jail until her trial. Her next appointment in court is slated for June 6, where proceedings will continue to unfold.
