Indiana teen steals security cam footage after he stabs his father 45 times in convenience store and cleans up with bleach

FORT WAYNE, IN – An Indiana teenager is facing a lengthy prison term after confessing to the brutal killing of his father inside their family-owned convenience store. Ahmed Al-Malahi, now 18, has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars following his plea to voluntary manslaughter. He will receive credit for approximately 14 months already served.

In a shocking incident last February, then-16-year-old Al-Malahi attacked his father, Tawfika Al-Malahi. According to court documents, the teenager waited under a table inside the One Stop Store on Creighton Avenue for his father to enter before launching a vicious assault.

The violent encounter began with Al-Malahi repeatedly stabbing his 52-year-old father in the back. He then struck him with a metal object, continuing the attack even as the elder Al-Malahi lay on the floor. The younger Al-Malahi inflicted further injuries, including slitting his father’s throat and fracturing his skull, possibly after his father had already succumbed to the initial attack.

Following the murder, Al-Malahi attempted to clean the crime scene with bleach, also making efforts to stage the store to look like the site of a robbery. He removed the store’s surveillance DVR and took money from the cash register. Later, he disposed of the DVR, along with the murder weapons and cleaning materials, in a dumpster behind an elementary school.

Despite the grisly scene, Al-Malahi proceeded to attend school as if it were any other day. He rode his bicycle and then took a bus to Northrop High School, where he arrived mid-morning.

Hours later, the tragedy was discovered when Tawfika Al-Malahi was found dead. The police have not publicly commented on any motive behind the attack.

Ahmed Al-Malahi was apprehended shortly after the murder and has been in custody since his arrest. While prosecutors originally charged him with murder, the charge was reduced under a plea agreement that acknowledged his actions were carried out in a “moment of heat.”

The case, marked by its calculated and cold execution, has left the community grappling with questions of what could drive a young man to commit such a heinous act against his own father.
