LA Times Ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist Facing Wrongful Death Lawsuit – Shocking Video Shows the Tragic Accident

Los Angeles, California – Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer, is currently facing a wrongful death lawsuit after being accused of running over and killing a pedestrian in a crosswalk earlier this year. The incident, which resulted in the death of 47-year-old Israel Sanchez, occurred on March 18 and has sparked legal proceedings against Klinghoffer.

According to reports, Klinghoffer, 44, was allegedly driving a black GMC Yukon when the fatal accident occurred. The lawsuit, filed by the victim’s daughter, Ashley Sanchez, claims that the guitarist was responsible for the death of her father. The suit alleges that Klinghoffer not only struck Sanchez but also dragged him across the asphalt, causing severe head trauma that ultimately led to his death.

Video footage obtained by TMZ shows the black SUV making a left turn at an intersection in Alhambra, California, before hitting Sanchez. Following the impact, the driver of the vehicle, believed to be Klinghoffer, was seen stopping, approaching the victim, and then returning to the car before emergency services arrived.

Sanchez was rushed to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The lawsuit further claims that Klinghoffer showed no signs of braking or slowing down before the collision, suggesting that he may have been distracted while driving.

In response to the allegations, Klinghoffer’s attorney described the incident as a “purely tragic accident,” emphasizing that the guitarist cooperated with authorities during the investigation. Despite the tragic outcome, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Ashley Sanchez, the victim’s daughter, expressed her grief over the loss of her father, describing him as a talented chef and a loving grandfather. She seeks justice through a jury trial and is pursuing damages for various expenses related to her father’s death.

Klinghoffer’s career as a musician, notably with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has garnered attention in the music industry. His involvement with Pearl Jam on their 2024 tour has been overshadowed by the legal proceedings resulting from the fatal accident. The lawsuit against Klinghoffer underscores the importance of accountability and safety on the roads, serving as a reminder of the consequences of negligent driving.
