The Woodley fire, the latest of the four, is currently 75 acres in size after igniting early Wednesday morning.
The Palisades fire has forced thousands of evacuations, with over 1,400 firefighters working to contain the blaze. Satellite images show the rapid spread of the fire, intensifying within hours. The fire’s size rivals areas of major cities like London and New York, illustrating the magnitude of the situation. Additionally, NASA’s Earth Observatory captured images of a massive smoke plume drifting out to sea off the California coast originating from the Palisades fire.
The devastation caused by these fires extends beyond the Palisades blaze. The Eaton fire, for instance, had a profound impact on the Jewish Temple in Pasadena, as before-and-after images exhibit the destruction in the area. The temple, in use since 1941, serves a congregation of over 400 families, underscoring the personal toll these fires have taken on local communities.
