According to Memphis police, the shooter, identified as Mavis Christian, opened fire at a home in southwest Memphis, resulting in the death of three people, including a 13-year-old girl. Following the initial shooting, Christian then drove to the Parkway Village area where he killed another woman, and later traveled back across the city to Whitehaven, where his wife, Tawanda Christian, was also shot and killed.

Dezmond Baldwin, a family friend of the suspect’s wife, described Tawanda as a kind and intelligent person, deeply mourned by her family and friends. She leaves behind three children and two stepchildren. The devastating aftermath of the shooting has left the family in deep anguish.
