Missing Alabama Woman Found Safe After Vanishing While Checking on Child on Interstate

Alabama Woman Carlee Russell Found Safe After Mysterious Disappearance

HOOVER, Ala. – Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell, a 25-year-old woman from Alabama, who went missing after stopping on an Alabama interstate to check on a child, has been found safe. According to FOX affiliate WBRC, Russell arrived at her parents’ home in Hoover, Alabama, at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Hoover Police Chief Nicholas Derzis confirmed her safe return and mentioned that she is currently undergoing evaluation at a local hospital. No further details have been released about where she was or how she made it back home.

The search for Carlee Russell began after she made a distressing phone call on Thursday night. She had called 911 and then spoke to a family member, explaining that she had pulled over on Interstate 459 South near Mile Marker 11 in Hoover, Alabama, to check on a child she spotted walking. The last thing her family heard was Carlee screaming before they lost contact with her.

When authorities arrived at the location, they found Russell’s car still running by the interstate but could not locate her or the child she had seen. Her phone, wig, and hat were found at the scene, and her phone is currently undergoing forensic examination to gather any potential clues. Police revealed that a witness reported seeing a man standing beside Russell’s vehicle just before officers arrived.

Carlee Russell, described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing around 150 to 160 pounds, is a student at Jefferson State Community College, studying to become a registered nurse. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and black tennis shoes. Russell, known for her respectful and ambitious nature, had interacted with the police department in Harpersville earlier that day, where she left a lasting impression.

The community has rallied behind Carlee’s family, with neighbors holding a vigil and offering support. A private donor has come forward with a $25,000 reward, in addition to the $5,000 being offered by Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama, for any information leading to her safe return. The reward sum has since grown to $55,000.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding Carlee Russell’s disappearance to come forward, emphasizing the importance of relying on factual information rather than speculation from social media. Currently, the focus remains on ensuring her well-being and uncovering the circumstances surrounding her sudden vanishing.

This mysterious case has gripped the community and sparked concerns about safety on the interstate. As the investigation continues, authorities are determined to bring clarity to the events surrounding Carlee Russell’s disappearance and provide closure to her family and friends.
