Jackson, Tennessee — A man linked to the tragic deaths of four individuals in July has been apprehended following an extensive manhunt sparked by the discovery of an abandoned infant. Austin Robert Drummond, 28, was taken into custody on Tuesday after being located by U.S. Marshals in the area.

Drummond’s capture occurred after he was spotted on Sunday evening, prompting local authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order for residents to secure their homes. He had been seen on surveillance footage armed with a rifle and attempting to gain access to a building while clad in camouflage.

The suspect faces serious charges, including four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and firearms violations. The victims, identified as Matthew Wilson, 21; Adrianna Williams, 20; Cortney Rose, 38; and her 15-year-old son, Braydon Williams, were discovered in a wooded area near Tiptonville, approximately 40 miles north of Memphis. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has described the killings as targeted, dismissing any notions of random violence.

Authorities have not disclosed specific details regarding the victims’ deaths or any potential motive behind the crime. However, investigators have stated that the deceased were relatives of the infant found abandoned in the yard of a home. Reports indicate that Drummond left the baby at the location and sought assistance from passersby, which has been described by officials as “a sign of compassion.”

The infant, whose safety was immediately ensured, is the child of Wilson and Adrianna Williams. Rose was identified as the child’s grandmother, and Braydon is listed as the maternal uncle. District Attorney Danny Goodman confirmed the family connections, providing context to the unfolding tragedy.

Drummond’s past is marred by criminal activity; he previously served nearly a decade in prison for aggravated robbery. Following his release, he faced attempted murder charges but was released on bail at the time of the alleged murders. In addition to Drummond, three alleged accomplices have been arrested, accused of aiding him following the incident. Tanaka Brown and Giovontie Thomas, both 29, face charges related to accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, with Brown additionally charged with evidence tampering. A third associate, Dearrah Sanders, is also under investigation for her involvement in assisting Drummond after the murders occurred.
