NASA’s DART Mission Proves Successful with Help from Amateur Stargazers!

NASA’s DART mission has been a success! After the launch of the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission, NASA was able to validate their kinetic impact method of planetary defense. The spacecraft was able to successfully slam into the asteroid, Didymos, and the results were captured by the Hubble Space Telescope.

The mission was a success and the team at MIT was able to learn a lot from the results of the mission. The kinetic impact method worked and could be used for other potential asteroid threats.

NASA was not the only one to be recognized for their part in the success of the DART mission. Amateur stargazers around the world were also recognized for their part in confirming the mission’s success.

The success of the DART mission is a huge step forward in planetary defense and could potentially save lives in the future. For more coverage on the success of the DART mission, view the full coverage on USNN.
