Nordstrom Closing All Stores in Canada

Nordstrom, the popular American department store, has announced that it will be closing all of its stores in Canada by June 2021. The closure will result in the loss of 2,500 jobs across the country.

The decision was made amid financial struggles, which were further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nordstrom entered the Canadian market in 2014 with much anticipation, but struggled to gain traction in the competitive retail landscape.

The closure will affect six locations, including four full-line stores in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and Toronto, as well as two Nordstrom Rack locations in Calgary and Toronto. The company has assured customers that any outstanding orders or returns will be processed, and gift cards will be honored.

Nordstrom is the latest retailer to exit the Canadian market, following the likes of Target, Sears, and Forever 21 in recent years. The closure comes as a blow to the retail industry and the thousands of employees affected by the decision.
