OnePay Revolutionizes Fintech: Walmart’s New $35 Unlimited 5G Plan Could Change Your Wallet Forever!

Bentonville, Arkansas – OnePay, the fintech company partly owned by Walmart, is making strides to enhance its offerings by introducing a new wireless service. This initiative is part of the company’s broader ambition to serve as a comprehensive financial and digital service platform for its users.

Starting Wednesday, OnePay will roll out its wireless plan through its mobile app, powered by a partnership with Gigs, a startup specializing in mobile services. Customers can sign up for the plan, which offers unlimited 5G data, talk, and text at a competitive rate of $35 per month. The activation process is designed to be user-friendly, requiring only a few taps within the app and without any credit checks or additional fees.

Launched in 2021 in collaboration with venture capital firm Ribbit Capital, OnePay aims to replicate the success of popular overseas super apps like WeChat and Alipay. The platform already includes an array of financial products, such as debit and credit cards, high-yield savings accounts, buy-now-pay-later loans, and a digital wallet that facilitates peer-to-peer transactions.

The introduction of wireless services is becoming increasingly common among fintech companies. Gigs’ CEO, Hermann Frank, noted that incorporating wireless plans into fintech products can significantly reduce customer acquisition costs for providers like AT&T. “Consumers often pay more than necessary for their phone services,” he stated. Frank emphasized that this new offering allows OnePay to provide a product at nearly half the cost of traditional plans while maintaining essential modern features.

The partnership between OnePay and Gigs reflects a growing trend in the financial technology sector, where companies are diversifying their services to remain competitive. Other fintech firms, such as Klarna and Nubank, have recently ventured into mobile phone services, suggesting that this hybrid model may become more prevalent in the industry.

In making this move, OnePay aims to create an integrated experience for users who seek both financial and digital communication solutions in one place. While OnePay confirmed the launch of its wireless service, further details remain under wraps as the company continues to navigate this evolving landscape.

As the fintech landscape becomes increasingly saturated, OnePay’s initiative to provide additional services could enhance user engagement and create a more holistic platform for financial management and connectivity, setting the stage for potential future growth.
