Vladivostok, Russia — Russia has made it clear that it will not engage in discussions regarding the deployment of foreign forces in Ukraine, labeling such proposals as unacceptable. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized Moscow’s firm stance against any international security interventions.

During an address at the Eastern Economic Forum, Zakharova reiterated, “Russia will not entertain any dialogue about the foreign military presence in Ukraine under any circumstances.” Her comments come at a time when European leaders are reportedly considering plans for a multinational force to provide security in Ukraine as part of a potential peace agreement.

Zakharova urged European officials to heed Russia’s objections, suggesting they reconsider their approach if they discuss the matter in the future. She expressed skepticism about recent statements from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding plans for an EU-led deployment, describing the Commission’s efforts to support Ukraine as “self-aggrandizing.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to meet with European leaders in Paris to finalize details on security guarantees as the conflict continues. French President Emmanuel Macron previously indicated that the specifics of these guarantees remain confidential but asserted that Europe stands ready to offer them once a peace deal is reached.

Despite efforts from international leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, to negotiate an end to the conflict, differences persist between Moscow and Kyiv. Russia insists that any agreement must acknowledge its claims over territory in four regions annexed since 2022, while Ukraine remains resolute in its refusal to concede any land.

As diplomatic engagements continue, Trump is scheduled to speak with Zelenskyy and plans to reach out to President Vladimir Putin in the coming days. The outcomes of these talks could influence the landscape of the conflict and the prospects for lasting peace in Ukraine.
