SELIGMAN, ARIZONA – A heartwarming tale unfolded in the remote Arizona wilderness as a 2-year-old boy went missing, only to be found safe and sound with the help of a loyal rancher’s dog. The boy, who ventured out into mountain lion territory, managed to walk an impressive 7 miles before being reunited with his family.

The young child, clad in just a blue tank top and pajama pants, disappeared from his home in Seligman, sparking a massive search effort involving over 40 rescuers, including Department of Public Safety rangers. Despite the presence of mountain lions in the area, hope shone bright as the search intensified.

After 16 hours of uncertainty, rancher Scottie Dunton discovered the missing boy on his land, accompanied by his faithful dog, Buford. The boy, to everyone’s relief, appeared unharmed and had successfully found his way to safety with Buford’s assistance.

The boy shared that he had taken shelter under a tree during his night in the wild. Buford, an Anatolian Pyrenees known for protecting the ranch, had dutifully guided the youngster for a significant part of his journey.
