Los Angeles, CA – The 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place Sunday night, honoring outstanding performances in both film and television categories. The prestigious awards ceremony streamed live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
In the film categories, “Conclave” took home the award for best performance by a cast. Timothée Chalamet was recognized as the best leading actor for “A Complete Unknown,” while Demi Moore won best actress in a leading role for “The Substance.” Kieran Culkin and Zoe Saldaña won best supporting actor and actress in a film for their roles in “A Real Pain” and “Emilia Pérez,” respectively.
On the television side, “Shogun” won three awards, including best drama series ensemble. Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada were awarded best actress and actor in a drama series for their exceptional performances.
In the comedy categories, “Only Murders in the Building” won best ensemble, with Martin Short and Jean Smart taking home best actor and actress awards for their roles in the show.
Other notable winners included Jessica Gunning for best actress in a TV movie or limited series for “Baby Reindeer” and Colin Farrell for best actor in a TV movie or limited series for “The Penguin.”
During the preshow, winners in the stunt ensemble categories were announced, with “The Fall Guy” and “Shogun” being recognized in film and TV categories, respectively.
The highlight of the evening was Jane Fonda receiving the prestigious Life Achievement Award for her outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.
