Seoul, South Korea – Samsung recently put a halt on the rollout of its highly anticipated One UI 7 update after a bug was discovered that was preventing some Galaxy S24 owners from unlocking their phones. The decision to pause the update came after reports of a “serious bug” surfaced, primarily from South Korean users of the Galaxy S24 series handsets. As a precautionary measure, Samsung decided to stop the rollout across all models worldwide.
Despite some users already downloading the One UI 7 update, further checks using the app CheckFirm revealed that the update is no longer available on Samsung’s servers as the latest firmware version for several Galaxy devices. Instead, older patches are now being displayed. Samsung has yet to officially confirm the pause in the rollout or announce plans to address the issue for users who have already downloaded the update. Requests for comment from the company have been made.
The decision to pause the rollout comes after a significant delay in the release of the update to older phones. The update was launched seven months after Android 15 became accessible to developers and two months after the introduction of the S25 series, which already came equipped with the new software. Users eagerly anticipating the update will have to wait further for Samsung’s next steps in resolving the bug and resuming the rollout of One UI 7 to all compatible devices.
