The market saw a slim gain on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 rising 0.16%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average adding 4.18 points, and the Nasdaq Composite climbing 0.46%, marking the third straight day of gains across all major indices.
Despite the release of consumer confidence data showing a 12-year low in U.S. consumers’ near-term outlook on income, business, and job prospects, stocks closed higher on Tuesday. Paul Hickey of Bespoke Investment Group noted that while the soft data appeared concerning, the hard data still showed signs of resilience in the economy.
Looking ahead, companies like Chewy, Dollar Tree, Cintas, and Paychex are set to report earnings on Wednesday.
