Suspect Arrested for Assaulting Rep. Angie Craig in Washington D.C. Apartment Building

Washington D.C. police have arrested a suspect in an assault on Representative Angie Craig of Minnesota in an apartment building in the city.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the suspect, identified as a 27-year-old man, allegedly attacked Rep. Craig as she was leaving the building. According to witnesses, the suspect began shouting at Rep. Craig and then proceeded to physically assault her.

Rep. Craig was able to escape the attack and was not seriously injured. The suspect was arrested by police shortly afterwards and is currently being held in custody.

The motive for the attack is still unclear, but police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. Rep. Craig has released a statement expressing her gratitude for the quick response of the police and her appreciation for the support she has received from her constituents.

This is not the first time Rep. Craig has been the target of violence. In 2016, she was the victim of a home invasion in which the suspect threatened her with a gun. The suspect in that case was later convicted and sentenced to prison.

The attack on Rep. Craig has reignited the debate over gun control and hate crimes in the United States. Many have called for increased security measures to protect elected officials and other public figures.
