The United States Marshals Service (USMS) has been hit with a ransomware attack, potentially compromising sensitive information.
The attack was first reported by NBC News, who reported that the attack was “major” and that it had compromised sensitive information.
CNN reported that the ransomware attack had affected “law enforcement sensitive information,” while The New York Times reported that the attack had breached the USMS system and compromised sensitive personal data.
USA TODAY reported that the attack had resulted in a “major” data breach, while ABC News reported that the USMS had been hit with a ransomware attack.
The USMS has yet to comment on the attack, however, they have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to their local law enforcement.
