The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine. The meeting heard echoed demands to end the war, as members of the UN called for a peaceful resolution.

The United States has been attempting to win over UN members who are neutral on the war in Ukraine. However, six countries have joined Russia in opposing the UN’s resolution for peace in Ukraine.

In the midst of the debate, India has abstained from voting on the UN’s resolution. According to The Hindu Editorial, India’s abstention is different from that of China due to a “tale of two silences”.

The UN Security Council will continue to discuss the war in Ukraine, and the US will continue to attempt to win over UN members who are neutral on the war.
