The United States and Germany are finalizing plans to send tanks to Ukraine in an effort to bolster the country’s defenses against Russia. According to two US officials, approximately 30 US-made M1A2 Abrams tanks will be sent to Ukraine.
Germany is also reportedly preparing to send tanks to the country, with reports indicating that the country is considering sending Leopard 2 tanks. This has been met with resistance from some German officials, who are concerned about the potential for escalation of tensions in the region.
The tanks are intended to help Ukraine bolster its defenses against Russian aggression in the region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously called for increased military assistance from the West in order to deter Russian aggression.
The move has been met with criticism from some Russian officials, who view it as an attempt by the West to increase its influence in the region.
The US and Germany have yet to officially confirm the plans to send tanks to Ukraine, but the move is expected to be announced in the coming days.
