The United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) has won the SheBelieves Cup, a four-team tournament that took place in the United States from February 22 to February 24, 2023. The USWNT defeated Brazil 2-0 in the final match of the tournament, thanks to goals from Alex Morgan and Mallory Swanson.
The tournament was a success for the USWNT, who were looking to build momentum and confidence ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup. The USWNT was dominant throughout the tournament, winning all three of their matches and conceding just one goal.
The USWNT was not the only team to have a successful tournament, however. Nadeshiko Japan defeated Canada 3-0 in the third-place match, while Brazil put in a strong performance against the USWNT in the final.
Despite the success of the tournament, there are still some concerns for the USWNT heading into the World Cup. The team’s defense was shaky at times, and the offense struggled to create clear-cut chances against Brazil.
Nevertheless, the USWNT can be pleased with their performance at the SheBelieves Cup, and will now look to build on their success as they prepare for the World Cup this summer.
