USWNT Wins SheBelieves Cup, But Worries Linger Ahead of World Cup

The US Women’s National Team (USWNT) won the SheBelieves Cup on Tuesday, but there are still concerns for the World Cup in 2023. The USWNT defeated Brazil 3-0 in the finale, with goals from Christen Press, Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd.

The USWNT have now won the SheBelieves Cup three times, with their last win coming in 2018. The tournament is seen as a tune-up for the 2023 World Cup, and the USWNT will be looking to make it four straight titles in 2021.

Japan also had a successful tournament, snapping a skid with a 3-0 win over Canada in the SheBelieves Cup. Japan’s Nana Ichise scored twice and Riko Ueki scored once in the victory.

The USWNT have been dominant in the SheBelieves Cup, and the tournament has been a great opportunity for the team to test out their lineup and tactics ahead of the 2023 World Cup. While they have won the tournament three times, they will still be looking to improve and build on their success in the coming years.
