A violent protest erupted in downtown Atlanta on Wednesday night in response to the killing of an activist. According to News18, the protest began peacefully, but soon turned chaotic as protesters smashed windows, lit a police car on fire, and graffitied a Cobb County Bank of America with the words “Stop Cop City”.
11Alive reports that all but one of the protesters were arrested and were from out of state. Fox News reports that six people were arrested by the Atlanta police in the night of chaos.
The motives and identities of the arrested protesters are still being investigated. Local officials have urged the public to remain calm and peaceful as the situation continues to unfold.
