VP Harris, Blinken, and Amnesty Secretary General Lead World Leaders at Munich Security Conference

Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have arrived in Munich, Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference and discuss the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The conference began on Friday and is expected to include discussions of the conflict in the Donbass region of Ukraine, which has been ongoing for over seven years.

The two U.S. officials are expected to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other world leaders to discuss how to de-escalate the conflict.

Meanwhile, fighting continues in the Bakhmut region of Ukraine, where Russian-backed separatists have been clashing with Ukrainian forces.

The Secretary General of Amnesty International, Agnès Callamard, is also attending the Munich Security Conference and is expected to challenge world leaders to take action to end the conflict.

On Thursday, Vice President Harris landed at Munich Airport ahead of the conference. She was greeted by German officials and was seen wearing a face mask as she exited the plane.

The Munich Security Conference is one of the world’s leading forums for discussing international security issues and is expected to be closely watched by both Russia and Ukraine.
