WIMAUMA, Fla. — A man accused of a brutal murder in Wimauma two months ago has turned himself in to the authorities, bringing an end to the investigation and providing closure to the community. Osmin Castillo, 21, has been charged with second-degree murder with a weapon, possession of child pornography, lewd and lascivious battery, in state transmission of child pornography by electronic device and use of a child in a sexual performance.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person being killed in a domestic altercation on Sept. 23, around 5:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Sanchez Ranch Lane. Upon arrival, deputies found a man with upper body trauma and launched an investigation that ultimately led to the issuance of a warrant for Castillo’s arrest for second-degree murder.
During the course of the investigation, it was also discovered that Castillo committed sexual battery against a child under the age of 16. The arrest of Castillo was hailed by Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister as a testament to the dedication of the sheriff’s office in removing dangerous criminals from the streets.
Castillo turned himself in and is now in custody at the Orient Road Jail, facing multiple serious charges including second-degree murder and sexual battery of a minor. The arrest provides a semblance of justice for the victim and their family, and serves as a reminder of the commitment of law enforcement to keep the community safe.
