Woman finds boyfriend’s messages to other women on Yahoo then waits for him to come home and shoots him

KNOXVILLE, TN – A domestic dispute in Knoxville turned deadly when a young woman, angered by her boyfriend’s alleged infidelity, reportedly shot and killed him after a confrontation, according to police.

Dsani Badgett, 20, is being held on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of her boyfriend, Stephen Morgan. Authorities say the shooting took place on Saturday evening in Knox County, where deputies responded to a disturbance call around 5:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered a distraught Badgett outside the residence, frantically calling for help. Inside, they discovered Morgan with a critical gunshot wound to his upper chest. Emergency personnel declared him dead at the scene.

Badgett told investigators she discovered Morgan’s alleged infidelity through messages she found on his Yahoo account after he used her phone, court documents reveal. She reportedly retrieved a firearm from their bedroom and waited for him to return from work to confront him.

When Morgan arrived, the confrontation quickly escalated. Badgett allegedly warned Morgan by racking the firearm, demanding he address their relationship issues.

As the argument intensified, Morgan allegedly tried to seize the gun from Badgett, resulting in her firing the weapon, striking him in the hand and chest, the report states.

Badgett was taken into custody and transported to the Roger D. Wilson Detention Center, where she remains on a $300,000 bond. The incident underscores the dangerous potential of volatile emotions, as domestic tensions can quickly spiral into violence.

As the investigation continues, court officials have scheduled future proceedings to determine the path forward for Badgett, who faces a severe charge amid the tragedy. Authorities continue to gather evidence to piece together the events leading up to the shooting, while community members mourn the loss.
