NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV – A 12-year-old girl has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of her father in North Las Vegas on Friday night, according to police.
Authorities were called to the scene at approximately 9:30 p.m. at an apartment on Mercury Street after the girl reported concerns about her father’s condition. She initially claimed an intruder had harmed him.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a 55-year-old man, later identified as the girl’s father, inside the home. Investigations soon revealed past police visits to the residence earlier in December, related to reports of a minor running away and incidents of domestic disturbance.
Despite the initial claim of a break-in, detectives found no evidence of forced entry. With the gathered evidence and the girl’s statements, she emerged as the sole suspect and was subsequently charged with murder involving a deadly weapon.
Police emphasized that there was no prior indication of serious physical harm to the girl that might have precipitated the attack.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office is responsible for confirming the identity of the deceased and will announce the cause and manner of death in due course.
As this investigation continues, detectives are piecing together the circumstances preceding the tragic event. More information will be shared with the public as it becomes available.
