A tragedy unfolded in North Philadelphia on Tuesday when a Temple University police officer was fatally shot while trying to stop a carjacking.
The officer, identified by sources as 39-year-old Officer Patrick McDonald, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.
Now, sources have identified an 18-year-old suspect who was arrested in connection with the killing. The suspect has not yet been publicly identified.
According to officials, the suspect was captured using the fallen officer’s handcuffs.
The incident began when Officer McDonald responded to reports of a carjacking near the university’s campus. It is unclear what happened next, but Officer McDonald was fatally shot while trying to stop the carjacking.
