20-year-old Texas man attacks disabled man and stomps on him then threatens to kill cop who catches him

BELLMEAD, TX – A Texas man is facing multiple charges after an alleged violent incident involving a man with a pre-existing brain injury. Tristian Thomas, 20, is accused of assaulting the victim following a dispute over an inappropriate comment about a woman, according to authorities.

The altercation took place on May 18 in the 1300 block of Behrens Circle in Bellmead, a suburb near Waco. Reports indicate Thomas allegedly punched the victim, threw him to the ground, and then stomped on him, resulting in a broken ankle and injuries to the victim’s left ear and cheek.

The victim’s pre-existing brain injury left him unable to recall the attack, police said.

Investigators, however, reportedly secured video evidence of the incident, leading to the identification of Thomas as the purported assailant. Additionally, it is alleged that Thomas attempted to intimidate a witness who observed the altercation.

Thomas was apprehended the same day during a routine traffic stop. While detained in the back of a patrol car, he allegedly threatened the officers, reportedly saying, “Have fun dying. I’m gonna make sure your…”

Following his arrest, Thomas allegedly acknowledged the assault in a post-Miranda interview with detectives, attributing his actions to a dispute over disrespectful comments the victim made about a woman.

Thomas faces several charges, including injury to a disabled person, burglary, obstruction, and making terroristic threats against a law enforcement officer. He is currently held at McLennan County Jail on a $26,000 bond.

Legal representation for Thomas was not listed in court records. The case sheds light on the continued challenges law enforcement face in dealing with violent offenses involving vulnerable individuals.
