During an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press,” Stefanik was asked if she will vote to certify the 2024 election results regardless of the outcome, to which she responded by saying, “We will see if this is a legal and valid election.” These comments come in the wake of her previous objections to certifying Pennsylvania’s election results in 2020.
Stefanik’s objections to the 2020 Pennsylvania election results were based on her concerns about what she called “unconstitutional overreach” and changes to election laws. She stood by her decision to challenge the certification of Pennsylvania, attributing her actions to a defense of election integrity. It is worth noting that Stefanik was one of 147 Republicans in Congress who voted to sustain objections to either or both of the Pennsylvania and Arizona election results.
