24-year-old Texas man shot several times by 23-year-old girlfriend who apologized for not making it quick

HOUSTON, TX – A Texas woman is facing serious charges after allegedly luring her boyfriend to a secluded field and shooting him multiple times, leaving him with severe injuries. Alexys Pinto, 23, was arrested after the September 5 incident that left Elvis Munoz, 24, with gunshot wounds, one of which remained lodged in his back for months.

The couple’s troubles reportedly began when a customer brought a car to Munoz, a mechanic, at their home. This sparked a confrontation, with Pinto allegedly escalating to physical aggression by attempting to hit Munoz and kicking one of their pets. Munoz managed to diffuse the situation temporarily, but tensions flared again when Pinto suddenly invited him to revisit a place special to their past.

Agreeing to Pinto’s request, Munoz drove to a field near State Highway 288 and Airport Boulevard. As they arrived, Pinto ran down a hill, calling for Munoz to follow her. When he caught up, she reportedly asked him to teach her about deer hunting, a bizarre request that turned sinister when she allegedly shot him in the chest.

Munoz recounted to authorities that after being shot, Pinto shouted a racial slur and continued firing, hitting him again as he tried to escape. Despite his injuries, Munoz managed to shield his face when she aimed to shoot again, taking a bullet to the hand instead.

Desperate and bleeding, Munoz pleaded for an ambulance while Pinto allegedly expressed regret over not having shot him in “the right places.” Eventually, she assisted the injured Munoz back to their vehicle and drove him to a gas station, where he received help from passersby.

Pinto was taken into custody on September 20 on a warrant for aggravated assault, discovered during an unrelated call. Initially held on a $75,000 bail, she was released when a judge reduced it to $10,000. As Pinto exits jail, Munoz is left grappling with fear for his safety and that of his loved ones.

Without a clear explanation from police on what provoked the attack, Munoz remains bewildered by the event, unable to fathom why someone he cared for would turn violent. He describes Pinto as having been jealous and isolating, which added strain to their relationship.

Munoz, reflecting on his ordeal and ongoing recovery, remains concerned about the threat Pinto poses to his community and family, unsure of what might have motivated her to commit such a violent act.
