FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A Florida man is facing charges after purportedly shooting his wife in the neck while under the influence of drugs. Sean William Wollard, 27, was arrested Monday and charged with using a firearm while impaired, authorities said.
Deputies from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 25 at a residence in the 1200 block of SW 28th Road, about 30 miles north of Miami.
Upon arrival, Broward County officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck, with Wollard applying pressure with a blanket.
According to officials, Wollard was initially hesitant to step away from the victim, who assured authorities that the incident was an accident and that her husband did not intend to harm her. She was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center, where doctors expressed concern that the injury might leave her paralyzed from the neck down.
Investigators said Wollard made several voluntary admissions, claiming the shooting occurred as he was securing a firearm after using cocaine. “We were looking for the cat all day, we came inside, turned on a movie and did some cocaine,” he reportedly said. “I went to put away the firearm and the gun went off.”
Despite being advised of his rights, Wollard chose not to provide further information but did make additional unsolicited remarks, indicating difficulty recalling the events clearly. Inside the home, authorities found multiple liquor bottles and a notable white powder on a coffee table, alongside three firearms, two of which were holstered.
The affidavit noted that Wollard had handled and discharged the unsecured firearm under the influence, resulting in his wife’s injury. The couple has been married since 2018, police said.
At his court appearance on Wednesday, Wollard’s bond was set at $15,000, which he posted to secure release under several conditions. The terms include wearing a GPS monitor, undergoing a substance abuse evaluation within ten days, and submitting to random drug and alcohol tests. He is also barred from possessing any firearms or ammunition while legal proceedings are ongoing.
