TEMPE, AZ – A woman from Arizona has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after admitting to fatally shooting her boyfriend and leaving him to die. Lora Flores, 40, entered the plea last month in connection with the April 28 incident involving Korey Wilson, also 40, according to court records.

The tragic event unfolded when Tempe police received an emergency call from Flores at 2:37 p.m., confessing she had shot Wilson following an altercation. “I just shot him and f—ing left,” she reportedly told the dispatcher as she drove away from the scene. Flores mentioned disposing of the gun by the roadside but was unable to specify the exact location.

Throughout the 911 call, Flores hesitated to reveal further details, indicating she needed to consult her attorney. She claimed Wilson had choked her during the confrontation.

Upon arrival at the residence, police discovered Wilson with a gunshot wound to his upper body lying in the hallway. Forensic analysis revealed it was a “through-and-through” wound, although the bullet’s trajectory—whether it was fired from front to back or vice versa—remained unclear. Investigators also observed a bullet mark on a hallway mirror and additional bullet damage to a wall in the living room.

Authorities located Flores at her brother’s home in Chandler, approximately 14 miles from Tempe, using her cellphone data. Upon her arrest, they noted she had several old bruises on her arms and wrists but no recent injuries. Flores opted to remain silent until speaking with her lawyer.

In the aftermath of the shooting, police learned that Flores had messaged her brother and sister-in-law earlier that day, asking them to pick up her child from school, citing her drinking as a reason.

A friend of Wilson’s told officers that he had confided in them about Flores’ abusive behavior and his desire to leave the relationship. “Within the last month, the victim told their friend that if they were found dead, it was because she shot him,” the friend recounted.

The victim’s brother further elaborated on this in a GoFundMe post, highlighting the often-overlooked issue of male victims of domestic violence. He expressed the hope that Wilson’s tragic death would bring more attention to such cases.

Flores is scheduled for sentencing on February 28, closing a chapter on a distressing case that underscores the complexities of domestic violence, irrespective of gender.
