LAS VEGAS, NV – A dramatic 911 call from a Nevada man led police to the scene of a deadly shooting where he reportedly killed his ex-wife’s partner and wounded his ex-wife.
Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, 41, now awaits trial in custody without bail after his initial court appearance related to the fatal incident on January 3. Las Vegas police announced that Rodriguez-Guillen faces charges for killing Adriana Herrera, 40, and injuring his ex-wife, whose identity has not been disclosed. Authorities say Rodriguez-Guillen had stalked and threatened the couple on several occasions over the past months.
The confrontation took a tragic turn when Rodriguez-Guillen called 911, confessing to the shooting himself. Officers arrived promptly at the east Las Vegas scene and found the victims inside a vehicle. Herrera, suffering several critical gunshot wounds to her head and body, was declared dead on-site. His ex-wife, injured in the hip, received urgent medical attention and is expected to recover. She identified Rodriguez-Guillen as the shooter.
According to accounts from the hospitalized ex-wife, after their 2013 divorce, Rodriguez-Guillen and she continued their relationship and co-parented seven children. Herrera entered her life about a year and a half ago, marking the beginning of an on-again, off-again involvement. She reportedly chose to permanently end her relationship with Rodriguez-Guillen about two months ago, which he purportedly reacted to with hostility.
Statements from the ex-wife reveal that Rodriguez-Guillen frequently threatened to kill her and Herrera, pledging to send them “to hell.”
On the day of the fatal encounter, Rodriguez-Guillen allegedly tracked his ex-wife and Herrera while they traveled around Las Vegas. According to police, when Herrera halted her vehicle mid-road, Rodriguez-Guillen blocked their path with his car, exited with a rifle, and shot multiple times into Herrera’s vehicle. Herrera suffered fatal injuries when she allegedly confronted Rodriguez-Guillen. His ex-wife claimed he hadn’t targeted her intentionally during the shooting.
After the shooting, Rodriguez-Guillen reportedly brandished a handgun, contemplated suicide, then noticing his injured ex-wife, lowered his weapon, apologized and called emergency services.
Rodriguez-Guillen, who declined to speak to investigators without legal representation, was detained at Clark County Detention Center. He is charged with 13 felonies, which include open murder and attempted murder, alongside two counts of kidnapping. Rodriguez-Guillen’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 19.
