49-year-old Texas man shot by 45-year-old woman who says he drugged and kidnapped her

FREDERICKSBURG, TX – A Texas woman has been indicted on murder charges following the fatal shooting of a man she claims tried to drug and kidnap her near a local winery earlier this year, police report.

In a tense 911 call made on March 15, a winery manager relayed that Amy Lejeune, 45, had admitted to shooting a man multiple times after alleging she had been drugged and abducted. Law enforcement responded promptly to the incident, which unfolded on East U.S. Highway 290.

Lejeune, who resides in Montgomery, had recently acquainted herself with Lance Reid, a 49-year-old from Houston. The two had embarked on a weekend getaway when, according to Lejeune, Reid assaulted her in their vehicle as they traveled through Fredericksburg.

Around midday, local emergency services, including the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office and Fredericksburg Fire & EMS, converged near a winery where Lejeune had purportedly been held. Authorities discovered Reid lifeless in the vehicle’s front seat while Lejeune stood nearby.

Following the altercation, Lejeune reportedly sought refuge at the winery and requested the manager contact the authorities. The circumstances surrounding the origin of the weapon remain unclear, with no confirmation of whether it was Lejeune’s or Reid’s.

“The details are still murky outside of Lejeune’s account,” commented Gillespie County Sheriff Buddy Mills shortly after the event in March.

As investigations progressed, authorities’ attention turned to Lejeune as the potential instigator. Nearly seven months later, on October 8, Lejeune was charged with murder. She secured her release on October 15 after posting a $100,000 bond.

Lejeune is expected to appear before the court on January 9 as the case continues to unfold.
