6-Year-Old Killed in South Carolina Hunting Accident, Becomes Organ Donor and Saves Lives

ANDERSON, South Carolina – A 6-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a hunting accident in South Carolina last Friday. The victim, identified as Avery Davis, was in an elevated stand when he was struck by a stray shotgun pellet from a shooter on the ground, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

The shooting is currently under investigation by the authorities. The Orangeburg County Coroner confirmed that Avery died of a gunshot wound to the side of his head. Reports indicate that the stray bullet was fired by a 17-year-old, although it is not clear if the teen will face any charges.

Avery’s father, Jeremy Davis, expressed his devastation in a heartfelt statement posted on social media. He remembered his son as a bright and lively boy who was loved by everyone who knew him. The tragedy has deeply affected the local community, with Avery’s elementary school teachers honoring his memory by dressing in camouflage and providing grief counselors for students.

Despite the immense loss, Jeremy finds solace in the fact that Avery’s legacy will live on through his organ donation. Avery’s organs will be able to help the lives of five people, a testament to his lasting impact.
