GAITHERSBURG, MD – A woman is in custody following the arrest by Montgomery County Police for allegedly killing her mother in a suburban neighborhood of Gaithersburg. Tiffany Zhang, 29, was apprehended in the wake of the discovery of her mother, Guichun Hu, 63, found dead on Monday, Nov. 4.

Officials revealed that Zhang contacted the authorities at approximately 9:53 a.m. to report the incident, confessing to the killing, which purportedly took place the day before. She communicated that her mother’s body was left in a grassy area near their residence along the 19400 block of Olive Tree Way.

Upon the arrival of officers from the 6th District, they encountered Zhang waiting outside the location. Hu was subsequently pronounced deceased on the scene, prompting an immediate investigation by detectives with the Major Crimes Division.

The discovery led to Hu’s body being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. An in-depth autopsy is scheduled to ascertain the precise cause and manner of death, providing further clarity on the disturbing event.

Following the grim discovery, Zhang was taken into custody smoothly and transported to the Central Processing Unit. She now faces charges of first-degree murder.
