Seven passengers were taken to hospitals after a Lufthansa flight from Texas to Germany was diverted to Dulles Airport in Virginia due to turbulence.
The plane, carrying more than 200 passengers, was en route to Frankfurt, Germany, when it encountered turbulence over Virginia, according to Lufthansa. The plane diverted to Dulles Airport and seven passengers were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.
“We are very concerned about the health of those affected and we wish them a speedy recovery,” a Lufthansa spokesperson said in a statement.
The incident follows another incident on a Lufthansa flight from Germany to Mauritius on Sunday, when 20 passengers were injured due to turbulence.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating both incidents.
“The safety of our passengers is our highest priority and we take all reports of turbulence seriously,” said FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford.
The cause of the turbulence is still under investigation.
