LODZ, Poland – Actor Adam Driver caused a stir at the Camerimage Film Festival in Poland when he responded bluntly to a question about the crash scenes in his new movie “Ferrari.” When asked by an audience member about the crash scenes being “harsh, drastic, and cheesy,” Driver simply replied, “F**k you, I don’t know. Next question.” The response received a mix of gasps and uncomfortable laughter from the audience.
The film, directed by Michael Mann and based on the life of Enzo Ferrari, stars Driver in the lead role. “Ferrari” is set during the summer of 1957, as Ferrari’s company faces bankruptcy and he wagers everything on the iconic Mille Miglia, a treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy.
The movie also features a star-studded cast, including Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, and Patrick Dempsey. Rooney, the chief film critic for The Hollywood Reporter, praised the film for its depiction of the Mille Miglia race and the breathtaking Italian locations. “Ferrari” is also in the running for the EnergaCamerimage main competition at the festival.
Driver was also at the festival to accept the Special EnergaCamerimage Award for acting. The movie is set to be released in theaters on December 25 by Neon.
The controversy surrounding Driver’s response at the festival has sparked discussions about the portrayal of crash scenes in films, adding another layer of intrigue to the highly anticipated release of “Ferrari.”
